IDS – Bone Turnover Markers

Last updated: 21st November, 2024

IDS Bone Turnover Markers (BTM) for use with cell culture and animal models.

When addressing changes in bone turnover at the organ or organism level, monitoring tools adequately reflecting the outcome of tissue homeostasis become particularly critical. In this context, bioassays targeting the quantification of various degradation and formation products of bone matrix elements represent a useful approach1.

Bone turnover, also called bone remodeling, is a dynamic, lifelong process in which old bone is removed (resorption) from the skeleton and new bone (formation) is added. This process is tightly regulated through the action of various systemic hormones (e.g. parathyroid hormone (PTH), vitamin D etc.) and local mediators (e.g. cytokines and growth factors).

During the bone remodeling process, compounds are released from bone or the cells involved (osteoblasts and osteoclasts). BTMs provide laboratories with accurate and reliable assays
to support the assessments of metabolic bone diseases.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Range: The IDS markers include both formation and resorption indicators, allowing for a holistic view of bone health.
  • High Precision: Developed with cutting-edge technology, IDS markers ensure accurate and reliable results, enhancing diagnostic confidence.
  • User-Friendly: Easy to integrate into existing laboratory workflows, IDS products come with straightforward protocols for seamless testing.
